Réne Barbier Clos Mogador 2022 is the flagship wine from one of Priorat’s most respected estates, made from a carefully selected single vineyard and crafted in a style that balances power with elegance. Proefnotities
In the glass, the wine shows a deep, concentrated color that hints at its intensity, while the bouquet is distinctly Mediterranean: dried hay, straw, wet slate and the mineral, stony signature so closely linked to Priorat. There is also a sense of restraint and harmony, with no excess of heat or overripeness, just a clear, poised expression of the vintage. On the palate, Clos Mogador 2022 is round and serious, with very fine, chalky tannins and a completely dry finish. The alcohol is well integrated, giving the wine balance rather than weight, and the overall impression is one of calm depth and precision. It has excellent aging potential and should continue to develop beautifully over the coming years, gaining complexity and nuance.

Productie
Clos Mogador 2022 comes from a single vineyard in Priorat, where the steep slopes and slate-rich soils create the intense, mineral-driven character that defines the estate. The wine was fermented with around 40% whole clusters and then aged for approximately 20 months in large 2,000- and 2,500-liter oak foudres, with some lots finishing their maturation in concrete to preserve freshness and purity. The estate has moved increasingly away from barriques and toward larger vessels, allowing the fruit and terroir to remain at the forefront.

Eten & Serveren
This is a wine that pairs naturally with richly flavored dishes such as grilled lamb, slow-roasted beef, game, or Mediterranean cuisine with herbs, olives and roasted vegetables. It also works very well with aged cheeses and hearty stews. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting is recommended, especially if opened young, to give the wine time to open and fully reveal its layers.
