Cepparello is Isole e Olena’s iconic expression of Sangiovese, made entirely from grapes grown on the estate’s Tuscan hillsides. The 2022 vintage pairs concentrated dark-fruit flavours with an elegant, approachable character, and marks a new chapter for the historic property following its move from the De Marchi family to France’s EPI Group.

Proefnotities
In the glass, the wine is a deep ruby red. Aromas of dark cherry and blackcurrant mingle with spice and a delicate note of iris root. On the palate, it is concentrated yet polished, with lively fruit and natural freshness; the finish is enjoyable, though less deep and persistent than some of Cepparello’s most outstanding vintages.

Productie
The Sangiovese comes from estate vineyards among the rolling hills between the Tuscan hamlets of Isole and Olena. Well-drained soils rich in galestro shale, together with open exposures and gentle breezes, help preserve freshness in the fruit. Fermentation takes place in cone-shaped vats, followed by 18 months of ageing in a combination of barriques, tonneaux and large casks. Harvesting details are not specified. The wine can be enjoyed now, or cellared for further development.

Eten & Serveren
Serve at around 16–18 °C with grilled or roasted red meats, slow-cooked beef, game or dishes featuring mushrooms and herbs. Decant for about an hour before serving to let the wine open up, particularly if enjoying it young.

Producent
Isole e Olena takes its name from two small villages in the heart of Tuscany, whose surrounding hills are home to the estate’s vineyards. Long associated with the De Marchi family, the property has recently entered a new chapter under EPI Group. Cepparello is its flagship wine and is widely recognised as an emblematic, single-varietal Sangiovese from the region.
