In the glass, Château d’Yquem 2009 shows a luminous golden color with hints of amber, a sign of both richness and refinement. The nose is layered and expressive, with aromas of honey, candied citrus, dried apricot, saffron, vanilla and toasted almond, supported by a subtle floral lift. On the palate, it is opulent yet remarkably precise, combining intense sweetness with vibrant acidity that keeps the wine fresh and elegant. Productie
Château d’Yquem is produced in Sauternes, in the southern part of Bordeaux, where morning mists from the Ciron and Garonne rivers encourage the development of noble rot, or botrytis cinerea. The estate’s gravelly, well-drained hillside terroir is perfectly suited to concentrating the grapes, and harvest is carried out by multiple selective pickings, often one berry at a time, to ensure only perfectly botrytised fruit is used. Vinification is meticulous and aimed at preserving purity, richness and balance in the finished wine.

Eten & Serveren
Serve Château d’Yquem 2009 slightly chilled, ideally around 10–12°C. It pairs beautifully with foie gras, blue cheeses such as Roquefort, fruit-based desserts, tarte tatin, or simply on its own as a contemplative wine. Decanting is not usually necessary for a young bottle, but older vintages may benefit from gentle aeration before serving.

Château d’Yquem is the legendary estate of Sauternes and the only wine from the 1855 Bordeaux Classification to receive the rank of Premier Cru Supérieur. Its history stretches back more than four centuries, and the property has long been associated with uncompromising quality, extreme selection and very low yields. Over the years, it has earned a near-mythical reputation as the world’s greatest sweet wine producer, with bottles from the estate highly prized by collectors and wine lovers alike.
