In the glass, this Barolo shows a deep garnet color with the classic brick-toned reflections that begin to emerge with age. The nose is layered and precise, offering red berry fruit, balsamic notes, minerals, and a subtle floral lift, all underpinned by a touch of licorice and earthy complexity. On the palate, the wine is compact yet generous, with small red fruits, licorice, and refined tannins that give structure without harshness. The acidity is vibrant and keeps the wine beautifully lifted, suggesting excellent aging potential; this is a Barolo that will continue to gain nuance and harmony over many years in bottle.

Productie
The Bric del Fiasc comes from the Fiasco vineyard in Castiglione Falletto, where Tortonian and Helvetian soils meet to create a rare balance of finesse and power. The grapes are harvested by hand, usually in the second half of October, allowing for optimal ripeness while preserving the natural freshness of Nebbiolo. Vinification is carried out with Paolo Scavino’s precise, terroir-driven approach, designed to express the individuality of this historic cru. The result is a focused, fruit-driven Barolo with remarkable structure, elegance, and a clear sense of place.

This Barolo pairs wonderfully with rich, savory dishes such as braised beef, game, truffle pasta, mushroom risotto, and aged cheeses. Serve it at around 16–18°C to let its aromatic complexity unfold, and consider decanting for at least 1–2 hours, especially if enjoyed young.

Tenuta Paolo Scavino is a historic Barolo estate founded in 1921 in Castiglione Falletto. Today it is run by Enrico Scavino together with his daughters Enrica and Elisa, continuing a family tradition built on independence, meticulous vineyard work, and a modern yet respectful winemaking style. With more than 60 years of experience, Enrico Scavino has become known for investing in top cru Nebbiolo sites and for crafting wines that express each vineyard with remarkable purity and elegance. The estate farms 29 hectares of its own vineyards and works additional historic Barolo parcels across several communes, making it one of the most respected names in the region.
